Charles Brewer is in hot water. The Pos Malaysia chief executive sparked public backlash after making a dismissive remark to a staffer who complained about his torn uniform.

A screengrab of the exchange went viral, casting Brewer as callous and out of touch.

A picture of the exchange from the viral X post that drew the ire of Malaysian social media users. After being reprimanded by Brewer, the mailman replies in Malay that it’s not that he was asking for a new uniform but that it was a customer who pointed out the tattered one to him.

The company scrambled to contain the damage. Brewer apologised. But the damage was done.

The PR gaffe aside, Brewer has been in the spotlight for a while now as Pos Malaysia is under: the national courier has been bleeding red ink for six straight years.

To be sure, Brewer joined Pos Malaysia in 2021, when the national courier was already declining.
